TOPSFIELD FAIR 2021
Each year, volunteers from the
Hamilton-Wenham Rod and Gun Club provide information about the club to many
Topsfield Fair visitors.
This exposure helps us get the word out about who we are which in turn, helps us maintain and build our membership levels. There is no special training required to staff the booth, however, Topsfield Fair
volunteers should be familiar with the club's range facilities, i.e. Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Archery and Fishing, and should also be able to describe when and where the monthly membership meetings are held.
Note that descriptions of our facilities, range and membership meeting locations, and the cost of joining the club can all be found on this website (www.hwrg.org).
NEWS FLASH 09/21/2021:
THE CLUB HAS DECIDED TO CANCEL THIS YEAR'S APPEARANCE AT THE TOPSFIELD FAIR. WE'LL REGROUP AND COME BACK STRONGER FOR 2022!
FAQs (Some important questions and answers for volunteers):
1) Where is the club's booth?
The club's booth is located in the Topsfield Fair's Sportsmen's Building, which is located close to the Fair's main gate on Route 1.
2) Who is the HWRG coordinator for staffing of the club's booth?
Mike Giardina is the acting booth staffing coordinator as we are still trying to find someone to fill this role. (Mike's contact information is listed further down on this page.)
3) Is there free parking available for booth volunteers?
Yes, parking is free for anyone who volunteers. You must park in lot D on Central St. In the weeks leading up to the fair, the HWRG Staffing Coordinator will send you a wrist band (in the US Mail) for parking and admission for each day that you work in the booth.
4) Do volunteers pay an admission fee to get through the gates?
No, as stated above, you will be given a wrist band which will allow you free entry for that day. Note that the wrist band will most likely need to be surrendered to Topsfield Fair staff at the admissions gate (not the parking lot gate).
5) Do hours spent in the booth qualify for HWRG WIP hours?
Yes! After the 2021 Topsfield Fair concludes, the HWRG Fair Staffing Coordinator will report all booth staffing to the club Secretary who will make sure you get WIP credit for your time spent in the booth.
6) How do I sign up?
To sign up for one or more shifts, choose your shift times from the booth staffing schedule grid below and then click
here
to send an email to Mike Giardina , the acting HWRG Fair Staffing Coordinator.
Email is the preferred way to contact Mike for booth scheduling, but you may also call Mike at 978-578-1169. Be prepared to give Mike your mailing address and a phone number where you can be reached.
7) What if I can't make a shift that I signed up for and need to cancel?
Please
call Mike Giardina as soon as possible so that he can arrange substitute coverage. A no-show without notice will
really ruffle the Club President's feathers and you may receive a phone call.
Thank you for supporting your Rod and Gun Club!
The schedule grid below shows which shifts are available (open) and which shifts have been already assigned. Preferred staffing level is two members per shift.
